Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the things people ask most. Still stuck? Get in touch.
Is VaultMyStack free?
Yes. Live prices, Vault Report, the PDF and summary card, and the Order of the Vault seals are all free — and so is an optional account that syncs your vault across devices. It's currently in beta. A supporter/membership tier may add extras later, but the core stays free. If you'd like to chip in now, see how to support the project.
Where is my vault data stored? Is it private?
That's your choice. In the free browser version, your vault is stored locally in your browser on your device — nothing is uploaded, and we never see or receive your holdings. The catch: it's tied to that browser, so clearing your history or switching devices loses it, and there's no automatic backup — use Export CSV or Generate PDF to keep copies.
If you'd rather have it everywhere, create a free account at vault.vaultmystack.com: your vault syncs to a cloud database (handled by our providers Supabase, Resend, and Cloudflare), backed up automatically and readable only through your own login — only your email is needed to start. Full detail on the data & storage page.
Do I need an account?
No. Vault Report works anonymously right in your browser — no sign-up required. If you want your vault on multiple devices, an optional free account with automatic cloud sync is available at vault.vaultmystack.com. You can use any email, even a throwaway — we only use it to send your login code, and nothing else is required to start.
Are the prices live?
Yes. Prices are fetched live from a market-data source every time you load or refresh the page, so the number is at most about 60 seconds old — for physical gold and silver spot, that's effectively real-time. They don't tick continuously while you sit on the page (just reload to update). Prices are indicative reference figures for record-keeping, not live trading quotes.
What is Vault Report?
A private tool to catalog your physical gold and silver, value it at current spot, and generate a professional, print-ready PDF plus an optional fold-and-file summary card. It also tracks how your position changes over time as you add reports.
Which metals are supported?
All four major precious metals: gold, silver, platinum, and palladium — each valued at live spot. Gold and silver are the everyday stacker staples; platinum and palladium are there for those who hold them too. Add any of them to your vault.
What are the Order of the Vault seals?
Collectible rank badges you earn as your stack grows — from Initiate all the way to Hand of the Vault — shown right on your vault dashboard. They're a fun way to mark milestones, for personal motivation only, and are not a statement of verified holdings. See the full Order of the Vault lineup.
Are those badges real? Can I order one?
Not yet — but we plan to make the Order of the Vault · Keepers of the Stack challenge coins for real. Want one? Contact us to register your interest and tell us which design you'd like — if there's enough interest we'll add a design page with several variants to vote on.
Two proposed finishes — click any coin to enlarge. Final design, metal and finish may change.
Can I import or export my data?
Yes — export to CSV and generate a PDF report, and CSV import lets you bring in an existing inventory. You can also download a full JSON backup of everything and Restore it later or on another device. All free, no account needed.
Is any of this financial advice?
No. Everything here is for education and personal record-keeping only. Nothing on VaultMyStack is financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and prices are indicative. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Why does it say beta?
VaultMyStack is early and actively being built. You may see rough edges, and live pricing can be paused while we work. Planned additions include accounts with cloud-synced vaults, historical valuations by date, and more.
How can I support VaultMyStack?
VaultMyStack is free, ad-free, and doesn't sell your data. If it's useful to you and you'd like to help keep it running, you can tip in crypto — Bitcoin and 300+ other coins — through NOWPayments. It's non-custodial, so contributions go directly to us with no middleman holding the funds.
